Frequently Asked Questions

I work in-person, remote, or hybrid based on client needs and preferences. We can discuss what makes the most sense for you and what your schedule is like.

I do not accept insurance as payment. However, if you have out of network benefits with your insurance, I am happy to submit a monthly claim for you directly to your insurance and/or send you a monthly superbill for you to submit to your insurance.

Call the members line on your insurance card and ask if your plan includes out-of-network benefits for psychotherapy. In case they ask, the billing code for an individual 45-minute session is 90834 and for couple therapy it is 90847.
If your plan does include out-of-network benefits, ask how the benefits work, e.g., "Does my plan cover a percentage of each session fee, or a flat cap?" If a percentage, ask what percentage (e.g., 60%), and if a flat cap, ask "what amount is reimbursed per session?" (e.g., $100).
With that out-of-network benefit information in mind, you can calculate the net out-of-pocket expense for therapy with me or other out-of-network providers.

Individual 45-minute sessions: $260
Couple 55-minute sessions: $300

Yes, I do offer sliding scale fees based on clients' financial need. If you are interested in exploring a sliding scale fee, please let me know in our consult video call or as we work together if your financial circumstances change.
-
I accept payment via all major credit cards and/or via cash transfer apps such as Venmo, Zelle, or Ca$hApp. Payment is completed the night after each session.
-
Individual sessions are 45 minutes and couple's sessions are 55 minutes.
-
I work on a weekly basis with most clients, meaning we meet for one session per week. However, each client is unique and we can explore increasing or decreasing session frequency based on your unique needs and treatment objectives.

When it comes to therapy, booking the time is using the time. With that in mind, I use the following policies:
Regular Cancelation
To cancel a session with no cancelation fee, please notify me 48 hours before the session time (this includes weekends and holidays - just as long as it's 48 hours before session). That way I can try to make that slot available to other clients. Then we can resume the following week at our regularly scheduled time.
Late Cancelations
If a session is canceled within 48 hours of the session time, the full session fee will be charged. Clients can avoid a late cancel fee by rescheduling that week's session within one week, but only if client and therapist availability allow for this.
Rescheduling
The clients I work with are busy with professional and personal lives and rescheduling is part of the logistical frame of our work together. There is no fee for rescheduling. If you need to reschedule, please let me know as soon as you can and I will share my availability for alternative session times/locations. If we cannot reschedule because our availability does not overlap, the cancelation policies above apply.

I know this is an unsatisfying answer, but "it depends!" Psychotherapy can be long-, medium-, or short-term.
In general, I advise clients to give it about 12 to 15 sessions (about 3.5 months of weekly sessions) for us to build a working relationship and to see how they're responding to our work together.
I work with some clients for a very brief period, with others for many years, and with others in treatment intervals (defined period of sessions) and intensives (longer or more frequent sessions). We can co-create an approach that works for you.
